ሙ/ Mu: A plural suffix for
masculine nouns; used in the enumeration of both distant and near. “ለሊሆሙ ፥ ለሊክሙ፤ ሎሙ ፥ ለክሙ፤ ጸውዖሙ ፥ ጸውዐክሙ።” To them, to you; to
them, to you; he called them, he called you.
ሙ(ሞ)ሓዪት/ Mu(Mo)ḥāyit: A place of visiting; a place of comparison. thigh, full,

ሙላድ/ Mulād: (ዳት) A place of birth, a place of giving birth, a place of causing to give
birth; a place of birth; a place of origin, a place of exit; a womb; the first
from the father; the second from the mother, where they are born. “ብሔረ ሙላድኪ።” The land of your
birth. “ምድረ ሙላዱ።” The land of his
birth. “ዘርዐ ሙላድ።” The seed of birth. “ሙላዳት” Birthplaces: (ሩት፪: ፲፩። ኤር፳፪: ፲። ቅዳ: ቄር። ሔኖ፪: ፩).
ሙሱን/ Musun: (ናን ናት ስንት) Rotten: That which
causes to stink; bad, evil, corrupt; foul, filthy. Very rotten figs. “ዐጽቀ በለስ ሙሱን ጥቀ።” Rottenness of heart. “ሙሱናነ ልብ።” Rotten water. “ሙሱነ ይሰትዩ” They drink rottenness:
(ኤር፳፬: ፪። ፪ጢሞ: ፫: ፰። መጽ: ምስ። ሕዝ፬: ፲፮).
ሙሲቂ/ Musiqi:
(ዐረብ) Musician; one who
plays music. “ዝ ውእቱ ሠራዕያነ ዜማ” These are the
composers of melodies: (ጊ: ወ: ሐ: ገ፲፯).
ሙስና/ Musnā: (ናት) Corruption; Rottenness,
destruction; decay, decomposition; suffering, plague. “ሙስናሃ ለነነዌ።” The corruption of
Nineveh. “ተዘከሮ ለሞት ወለሙስና።” Remember death and
corruption. “ወተጋብኡ አርባዕቱ ሙስናት፤ ዘውእቶሙ ቀትል ወዋዕይ ወጸብእ ወረኀብ” And the four
corruptions gathered; which are killing, plague, war, and famine: (ጦቢ፲፬: ፲፭። ሢራ፲፰: ፮። ዮሴፍ). The name of a tree,
a type of tree; its bark is pounded and eaten with injera as a remedy for
tapeworms by the Tigray people.
ሙራድ/ Murād: (ዳት) A place of descent,
a slope; a rank, a degree. “ሙራደ ደብር።” The descent of the
mountain. “ሙራደ ዐቀብ ዘደብረ ዘይት” The slope of the
Mount of Olives. “ይውሕዝ ከመ ማይ ውስተ ሙራድ።” It flows like water
into the descent. “በበ ሙራድዶሙ” According to their
descents: (ኢያ፰: ፳፬። ሉቃ፲፱: ፴፯። ኢሳ፴: ፳፰። ፍ: ነ: ፶፪).
ሙቀት/ Muqät: Heat: warming,
heating; fever, hotness. “እስከ ሙቀት ፀሓይ።“ Until the heat of the
sun. “እስከ ሙቀት ፀሓይ።” The heat of the
burning sun. “ሙቀተ ሐሩር።” While the heat was
upon him. “አስሐትያ ዘአልቦ ሙቀት” A mistake that has no
heat: (ነሐ፯: ፫። ሔኖ: ፬። ቅዳ። ቀሌ).
ሙቁሕ/ Muquḥ: (ሓን ሓት ቅሕት) Bound; Bound,

ሙቃሔ/ Muqāḥē:
(ሕያት) Bondage; Binding,
being bound, the act of binding. Bondage, exile; a prison. “እመ ሙቃሔሁ።” From his bondage. “ሙቃሔ ጽኑዕ።” Strong bondage. “ኦ ዘፈታሕኮ እሙቃሔ እግሩ ወእዱ።” O you who released
his feet and hands from bondage. “ውስተ ሙቃሔሁ ኢኀደገቶ” He did not leave him
in his bondage: (ስንክ: ግን፲፱። መስ፮። ጥበ: ጠቢ። ጥበ፲: ፲፬).
ሙቃሥ/ Muqāś: (ሣት) Place of judgment: A
place of striking, a place of being struck, a place of striking together, a
place of accusation. “በአሐዱ ዐውድ ወበአሐቲ ሙቃሥ፤ ዐውደ ሙቃሥ።” In one court and in
one place of judgment; the court of judgment. “አሐዱ ክብር ወመንግሥት ወምኵናን ወሙቃሥ” One honor, and
kingdom, and dominion, and place of judgment: (መጽ: ምስ። ደራሲ).
ሙቃዕ ሞቅዕ/ Muqāʿ Moqəʿ: (ብ ሙቃዓት፤ መዋቅዕ። ዐረ ሚቀዐት፤መዶሻ) Hammer; A striking tool, a
beating tool; a tool or place for separating grain from chaff, meat from skin,
wood from bark.
ሙባኒም/ Mubānim
[1]: (ዕብ ሙካኒም) Upright ones; righteous
ones; or it means brackets or supports. In Hebrew, በ/ n and ከ/ k (bet kaf) are
similar, and for this reason, he mistakenly wrote muba instead of muka. “ወከናፍሪሆሙ አሐዱ ጥፍሕ ሙባ(ካ) ኒም እንተ ውስጥ” And their wings were

death of the righteous. “ወሙተቶሂ ምኑነ።” And his death was
honorable. “በእንተ ሙተቱ ለብልጣሶር” Because of the death
of Belshazzar: (ጥበ፬: ፲፯። ፭: ፬። ዮሴፍ).
ሙናሕ/ Munāḥ: Resting place: A

ሙአት/ Muʾat: Victory: To conquer; to
be conquered; the state of being victorious; triumph, rejoicing. “እፎ ትኄልዩ አንትሙ ሙአቶሙ።” How do you think you

ሙዝ/ Muz: (ብ አሟዝ፤ አምዋዝ። ዐረ መውዝ። ሱር ሙዛ) Banana; a wellknown
plant of the enset, cabbage, and cocoyam family; its fruit is sweet: (አዋል).
ሙዳቅ/ Mudāq: (ቃት) A
place for falling, a place for sinking; a resting place: (ሔኖ፰: ፲፫: ፻: ፮).
ሙዳየ ቀለም/ Mudāyä Qäläm: An inkhorn; or a quill case: (ሕዝ፱: ፪).
ሙዳየ ቀርጠሎን/ Mudāyä Qärṭälon: Basket for vine branches: A basket for vine branches; for
carrying the clusters: (ዘዳ፳፮: ፬).
ሙዳየ በለስ/ Mudāyä Bäläs: A small woven basket for collecting figs: (ተረ: ባሮ).
ሙዳየ ዕጣን/ Mudāyä ʿəṭān: Censer: a small container or vessel for offering incense:
(ቅዳ).
ሙዳየ ዕፍረት/ Mudāyä ʿəfrät: Container for perfume: A container for perfume; a small
container of nard; a flask.
ሙዳየ ማይ/ Mudāyä May: Water vessel: A water vessel; a jar, a pitcher; a barrel,
a large pot; a water skin: (ዮዲ፯: ፳).
ሙዳየ ምጽዋት/ Mudāyä Məṣwāt: Offering box: A money box; where the faithful put their
offerings; narrowmouthed and widebellied; for putting in money, not for taking
it out; when the money is full, it is opened and scattered like roasted grain: (፪ዜና: ፳፬: ፲፩። ማር፲፪: ፵፩).
ሙዳየ ዘቢብ/ Mudāyä Zäbib: Basket of raisins: A cluster of raisins; a vessel; a
pocket, a pouch: (፩ነገ: ፳፭: ፲፰).
ሙዳየ ዔረግ/ Mudāyä ʿĒräg: Basket of summer fruit: A summer basket; a harvest basket
full of fruit: (ዓሞ፰: ፩).
ሙዳይ/ Mudāy: (ያት) Basket; a container,
a receptacle; a vessel for keeping things. Perfume that is poured from a basket
into a basket: (ቀሌ). It is said for all
goods; the word ዋዲያት (deposits) comes
from this.
ሙዳድ ሞዳድ/ Mudād Modād: (ብ መዋድድ) Socket; A means of
joining, a means of fitting together; a pivot. A nail, a lock; and the like. “ወመዋድዲሆን ዘብሩር” And their sockets
were of silver: (ዘፀ፴፯: ፲፯። ፴፰: ፲፯). A mans name; one of
the seventytwo whom Moses chose: (ዘኍ፲፩: ፳፮).
ሙጋር/ Mugār: Casting distance: A place
for throwing away; a place for casting away; a place for throwing, a place for
hurling. “ተአተተ ሕቀ እምኔሆሙ መጠነ ሙጋረ እብን” He withdrew from them
about a stones throw: (ሉቃ፳፪: ፵፩። ስንክ: ነሐ፲፬).
ሙጋድ/ Mugād: (ዕብ ሞቄድ፤ ሞቅዳ) Fuel; Firewood; wood
for sacrifice, good kindling; with a good smell.
ሙጣሔ/ Muṭāḥē:
Clothing; To put on, to wrap oneself; to cover, to veil oneself; attire;
clothes; a garment, a covering.
ሙጥራን/ Muṭrān:
(ዐረብ) Metropolitan; A
bishop who wears a mitre.
ሙፃእ/ Muṣā’: (ኣት) Exit; An exit hole; a
door, a threshold, a window; a slope, a hidden path; a tunnel, a secret
passage, a latrine; a spring.” አልቦ ሙፃእ እማእክሎሙ።” There is no exit from
among them. “እንተ አልባቲ ሙፃእ እስከ ለዓለም።” That which has no
exit forever. “ሙባኣቲሁ ወሙፃኣቲሁ።” His entrances and his
exits. “ሙፃአ ኵስሕ።” The exit of the stomach. “ከመ ዘይደፍን ዐዘቅተ ወያማስን ሙፃአ ማይ።” Like one who blocks wells and muddies the
source of water. “አስተርአዩ ሙፃኣተ ማያት” They showed the
sources of water: (ዮዲ፯: ፲፫። ቀሌ። ሕዝ፵፫: ፲፩። ስንክ: ነሐ፲፰። ምሳ፳፭: ፳፮። ፪ነገ፳፪: ፲፮).
ሙጻእ/ Muṣā’: Exit: An exit hole; ወፂእ ወፅአ –he went out, he went
out.
ሙጽ/ Muṣ: Muts: Muts; a flail,
a stick for threshing teff and sorghum. Even if it is not a flail, any stick
for threshing grain is called ሙጭ/ muts.
