“እምወርቅ ዘሓሊ ወእምብሩር ማሳኒ” Of rusty gold and
silver ornaments (ድጓ).
ዘ/ Ze [1]:
The 7th letter in the Geez alphabet in the
Abegede order. Its name is ዛይ/ Zay; its number is 7; when its a digit, its called ዘ/ Ze Sebeat ቱ/ Tu. However, the Hebrews
consider seven a category, adding a dot on top of it and calling it seven thousand.
Its mystery is the mystery of the Sabbath; it represents completion and rest,
perfect adornment, and perfect reward. See “ዘየነ” Zeyeanen (ዘፍ፪: ፪: ፻። ዘሌ፳፫: ፪).
[2]: (እንተ፤ እለ) a major grammatical function; an adjective
and sufficient; its meaning is of or that. ዘ/ Ze is for one (masculine) እንተ/ ǝnte is for one (feminine) እለ/ ǝlle is for many. “ኢየሱስ ዘተብህለ ክርስቶስ።” Jesus, who is called Christ. “ድንግል እንተ ተፍኀረት ለብእሲ።” A virgin betrothed to a man. “ሕዝብ እለ ሀለዉ ምስሌሁ።” People who were with him. “አዋልድ እለ አልቦን ኍልቍ” Daughters who had no number. (ማቴ፩: ፲፮። ሉቃ፩: ፳፯። ዮሐ፲፪: ፲፯። ማሕ፮: ፰). But the scriptures violate the decree, attaching ze to one, many, and
feminine; and ǝnte to feminine and masculine; and poets do it too; it is not
objectionable. “አንስትያ ዘኀረዩ።” Women who chose. “አባግዕ ዘአልቦ ኖላዊ።” Sheep that have no shepherd. “በቤተ መቅደስ ዘልህቀት ወለተ ዳዊት።” The daughter of David who
excelled in the temple. “አቃርዮስ እንተ ደለዎ ርእይ።” Aqaryos, who deserved to see. “ዮሐንስ ወአቡቂር እንተ ነበሩ ኅቡአ በእስክንድርያ ሀገር።” John and Abuqir, who were
hidden in the land of Alexandria. “ብእሲ ምእመን እንተ ይሰመይ ጐልያን” A faithful man who is called Goliath (ዘፍ፮: ፪። ዘኍ፳፯: ፲፯። ድጓ። ስንክ: ታኅ፳፱። ሐም፬: ፲). “ዘርፍ አያያዥ ኹኖም ሲነገር፤ ብኵርና ዘያዕቆብ፤ ክህነት እንተ ሌዊ፤ ነገሥታት እለ ይሁዳ፤ አንስትያ እለ ዳዊት ወዕቁባት እለ ሰሎሞን” When spoken as a genitive connection; the firstborn of Jacob, the
priesthood of Levi, the kings of Judah, the women of David and the eunuchs of
Solomon, it fits according to its resource; its meaning is still of. “ሰይ ልየ ዘርሕቀ ማኅደርየ።” When listing, opening the door, “በእንተ ዘ፤ ህየንተ ዘ፤ ከመ ዘ፤ እምዘ በዘ” it chants up to ten, ዚኣ/ zia, እንቲኣ/ ǝntia, እሊኣሁ/ ǝliahu, ሃ/ ha, ሆሙ/ homu, ሆን/ hon; ከ/ ke, ኪ/ ki, ክሙ/ kemu, ክን/ ken, የ/ ye, ነ/ ne, meaning his, hers, theirs. On top of ዚኣ/ zia, it becomes an
embellishment like ዘከመ/ zekemena and ዘእንበለ/ zeǝnbäle, also resolving the adjective, as in that which belongs to him.
However, ዘዝ/ zezez ዚኣሁ/ ziahu means different things,
each special; see the evidence in each place. When its a door opener, its used
as “በእንተ ዘ፤ ህየንተ ዘ፤ ከመ ዘ፤ እምዘ በዘ እያለ ይገባል። አንዳንድ ባላገባቦች ዘ፤ ስለ ና ይኾናል” bäǝnte ze, hǝyänte ze, kämä ze, ǝmze, bäze. Some grammarians say that ዘ/ ze means about and because,
because they found it used instead of ǝsme and bäǝnte. “ነስሐ እግዚ ዘአንገሦ ለሳኦል።” God repented concerning what he angered Saul with. “ሰይ ልየ ዘርሕቀ ማኅደርየ።” I am far from my dwelling. “አአኵተከ እግዚኦ ዘኢረሰይከኒ ከመ ሰብእ ሀያድያን” I thank you, Lord, that you did
not make me like the violent men (፩ነገ: ፲፭። መዝ: ፻፲፱። ሉቃ፲፰: ፲፩). When ዘ/ ze, እንተ/ ǝnte, and እለ/ ǝlle are resolved as adjectives or in the genitive, words that agree
with them are preferred, but otherwise, they are not always of. This is also
true for ብእሲ ዘለምጽ/ bǝǝsi zeläms a leper. ዘጋኔን/ Zäganen possessed by a demon. ዘሢበት/ Zäsibät grayhaired. እንተ ዕፍረት/ ǝnte ǝfrät having fragrance. እለ ዐመፃ/ ǝlle amäśa sinners; it shows everything else. Since “እንተና እለ ዘዘ ከዘ” ǝnte and ǝlle, and zezez käze are written separately in their
differences, see their meanings in each place (ዕር፲፱: ቍ፹).
