ሸጊህ/ Shegih: (ዕብ ሾጌህ) misguided; mistaken;
one who sinned in error: (ሕዝ፵፭: ፳).
ሺሓታት/ Shihatat: one hundred thousand;
or a thousand times a hundred; ten thousand. “እለ አምኑ ኢኮኑ ሺሓታት ወኢአእላፋተ አላ አህጉርኒ ወበሓውርት” Those who believed
were not thousands or tens of thousands, but also districts and circles: (ፊልክ: ፵፩).
Shihat: ten thousand; or a
hundred times a hundred; one thousand.
hundred; or a hundred times ten. In the old Geez before Salama, it was a
thousand, not ሺሕ/ shih, that meant a hundred; its absence is also known in the sequence of
numbers, since it goes from 100 to 10,000. Even in Tigre, እልፍ/ ilf and ሺሕ/ shih are the same; what is called ilf is the
same as shih. Saying shih is amat or 1000 and saying ten thousand is 10,000 is
a new Geez custom from Greek and Coptic; as the ancient letters sequence
changed, so did the numbers. Before now, shih, like other numbers, did not have
a numerical symbol; today, however, according to the ያበገደ/ abugida system, just as ቀ/ q is called ምእት/ meit, qo is also called amat because of its
loop; it means ሺሕ/ shih. See the explanations of አ/ a and ኀ/ hy of the day.
Shiwa: name of a country; name
of a woman; shihwa shihitu. Its mystery is abundance and plurality; it agrees
with saying shih of sand. (ታሪክ) The ancient Wello
nobleman legally married his daughter to the son of the Gishe nobleman, and
after many years, she went to ወሎ/ Wello with her children to see her father.
Her father was amazed at the number of her children and asked, Who are all
these. She said, Some are my children, and some are my grandchildren. My
daughter Shiwa, my daughter Shiwa; I had previously blessed you, May your
lineage be a thousand, may it make you a thousand; now that you have become a
thousand according to my blessing, from now on your name will be Shiwa, I call
you Shiwa, he said to her. She, like Sarah, added blessing upon blessing, and
returned called Shiwa. Her children, called ሺዎች/ Shiwoch (thousands), children of Shiwa,
spread throughout the regions and established “መንዝ ተጕለት ይፋት ፥ ቡልጋ ጠራ መርሐ ቤቴ ” Menz, Tegulet, Yifat, Bulga, Tora, Merha
Bete, and all the others. From ግሼ/ Gishe and ዳዬር/ Dayer to ዝቋላ/ Ziquala and የረር/ Yerer, east and west, it is called Shiwa in
her name. The later nobleman, going from Wello to break
the relationship, when they reached Segale, because they had no mules and
shoes, Oh, what a pity, what a pity, the sand of Shiwa consumed them. “ውሃ ውሃ ሲሉ ከረሞጫው ላይ፤ መላእክት አንሥተው ወሰዷቸው ዟይ።” As they said water, water on Keromocha,
angels lifted them up and took them to Zway.
ሻሪም/ Sharim: (ዕብራ) singers; musicians.
Musicians of Sharim: (ሕዝ፵: ፵፬).
ሻዳይ/ Shaday: (ዕብራ) name of God; mighty; strong;
omnipotent; high above all. “አልሻዳይ፤ (ኤል ሻዳይ) አምላክ ተስፉ፤ ዘይሴፎ ኵሉ ኪያሁ፤ ወዘያስተሴፋ” El Shaday; God of
hope; in whom all hope, and who causes hope: (ዘፀ፫: ፲፬: ፲፭። ሕዝ፲: ፭).
ሽቦሌት/ Shibolet: (ዕብራ) grain; detailed
produce; head of grain. “ወይቤልዎ ሽቦሌት፤ ወይቤ ሲቦሌት ወኢያርትዐ ነቢበ” And they said to him,
Shibolet; and he said, Sibolet, and he did not correct his pronunciation: (መሳ፲፪: ፮). But those who have
a different reading say the pronunciation is shiholet, and say its meaning is
make me for the sea, for the cliff; which is incorrect. Saying say shibolet is
because the children of Ephraim are she sound defective, to prove his
Ephraimite origin with his own mouth. But what they said is shihelet; and its
meaning is the bud leaf of perfume; sea shell; seacooked perfume; spike.
Shinbra: a known flowering
grain; its fruit is red, black, and white. “መበለት እኪት ባሕረ ኤርትራ፤ አስጠመቶ ለፈርዖን ሽንብራ” A widow, ekit of the
Red Sea; she drowned Pharaoh with shinbra: (ቅኔ).
