ኢ/ I: negation; verb and subordinate clause;
when a verb, its meaning is like ako, hase, albo (ዕር፲፩: ቍ፺፮). When a subordinate
clause, it becomes “አል አ እንዳ ላ ሳ ያል የማ” al, a, enda, la, sa,
yal, yema. “ኢጸሐፈ ፥ አል፤ ኢይጽሕፍ ፥ አ፤ ኢይጽሐፍ ፥ እንዳ ላ ሳ። ኢጽሒፎ ፥ ሳ፤ ኢጸሓፊ ያልጣፈ የማይጥፍ።” Isehafe, al; iyisehif,
a; iyisehaf, enda, la, sa. Isehiifo, sa; isehafi, that which does not write.
When it is ኤ/ a pillow and enters
with እፎ/ efo, it becomes ኤ/ e; እፎኢ/ efoi; its mystery is
negation and wonder. When it is a minor clause, it is like inbele; ale yale
becomes. When ኢ/ i and ኢ/ i are used
repetitively and in rhythm, it means if. When its meaning is ale, it agrees
with Amharic yibe (ግጥም/ poem). If you hear, the
word of the gospel ale—giving justifies. In Amharic, when ኢ አዪ ፥ አዬ / i ayi, aye is said,
it is a word of diminution, sadness, and wonder. Its mystery is negation and
destruction; because the Amharic style is extensive, look at everything in the
subordinate clause (ዕር፳: ቍ፻).
ኢሎፍሊ/ Ilofli: (ጽር አሎፍሊ) name of a tribe,
name of a country; Philistines; Philistia; see Felesen. It is located near the
Mediterranean Sea, on the coast, border, port, and is a neighbor of the land of
Israel. “ተጋብኡ ኢሎፍሊ ላዕለ እስራኤል።” The Philistines
gathered against Israel. “ወነሥእዋ ኢሎፍሊ ለታቦተ እግዚ።” And the Philistines
took the ark of the Lord. “ኀምስቱ አሕዛበ ኢሎፍሊ” The five nations of
the Philistines (፩ነገ: ፬: ፩።
Iloflawi: (wit wiyan yat)
Philistine; a man of Philistia; tribe, race. “ናሴብ ኢሎፍላዊ።” Naseb Iloflawi. “አነ ውእቱ ኢሎፍላዊ” I am a Philistine (፩ነገ: ፲: ፭።
that lions fear; a type of wolf; desert dogs. “አንዱን ኢይ ይለዋል።” One is called iyy. “ጺም ምስለ ኢም” Tziym with iyyim (ኤር፶: ፴፱). Poets call it
right.
Imint: empty, nonexistent,
noncreated; or despised, vain, worthless, whose existence is inconceivable. And
ወ/ w becomes an opener
and enhancer. “ሰፍሖ ለመስዕ ዲበ ወኢምንት።” He stretched out the
north over empty space. “ከመ ወኢምንት እሙንቱ” As if they were
nothing (ኢዮ፳፮: ፯።
ኢብን/ Ibn: (ጽር ይቢስ) a river bird that
lives by rivers and sea coasts; white, longbeaked; that picks worms and insects;
it is said that the Egyptians used to worship it (ዘሌ፲፩: ፲፯። But the Hebrew
calls it ያንሹፍ/ yansuf; meaning owl.
Ityopawi Ityopyawi: Ethiopian; African; Nubian
Sudanese; or African Nuba Sudanese. Its mystery is blackness and lowliness. “ይዌልጥኑ ኢትዮጵያዊ ማእሶ ወነምር ሕንብርብሬሁ።” Can an Ethiopian
change his skin or a leopard his spots? “ወረከበ ኢትዮጵያዌ ንኡሰ፤ ደቦል ሻንቅላ” And he found an
Ethiopian, a eunuch, a chamberlain (ኤር፲፫: ፳፫።
ዕብ ኵሽ፤ ስመ ነገድ) name of a country of
color and appearance; the land of the Sudanese, all of it; next to Egypt.
Black, very black; meaning the land of the blacks. “ኢትዮጵያ ታበጽሕ እደዊሃ ኀበ እግዚ።” Ethiopia will stretch
out her hands to God. “ኵሎሙ ኢትዮጵያ ዘጸሊም ሥጋሆሙ።” All Ethiopians whose
bodies are black. “ወቦ ዘትከውን ኀሳረ በኀበ ካልኣኒሃ ከመ ቀሪጸ ገጽ በኀ ኢትዮጵያ ወኖባ።” And there is that
which will be a shame to her neighbors, such as the drawing of a face in
Ethiopia and Nuba. ኖባ/ Nuba is the name of a
tribe and country; Ethiopia is the name of appearance and color (መዝ፡ ፷፯። The Hebrew calls
all of the Cush by the name Cush, and the Greek calls it Ethiopis; because of
this, all historians call Cush the father of Ethiopis; or the first Ethiopis,
the son of Acuhunas; Acuhunas also refers to Cush. Secondly, they say that all
the land of Cush was called Ethiopia after his son Ethiopis; it is all a matter
of speculation; but it seems true to those who have not seen Hebrew and Greek.
In the Greek language, Ethiopis is the same as Cush in Hebrew, and he is the
firstborn son of Ham, not another second person, the son of Cush. Greek history
says that Cush had 22 children other than the six mentioned in Genesis and
Chronicles, namely Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, Sabteca, and Nimrod. The
history of Moriyye, which is derived from this Greek history, states that Cush,
the son of Ham, had 28 children from his three sisters, Arba, Albeon, and
Cyrene; his age was 478; and his city and tomb is Aksum. They have also listed
the 28 by name; the names of the six are as written in Genesis (ዘፍ፲: ፯: ፰). Of the remaining 22
tribes, there is no one called Ethiopis, but Abis; but they have listed Abis,
the seventh son of Cush, born from Albeon, the follower of Sheba, Sabai, and
Nimrod, including his mothers name and number; see Abis. In Greek, Ethiopis has
two meanings; when it is a persons name, it means very black; when it is a
countrys name, it means lowland, desert, wilderness. Its name is a new,
foreign, later name derived from the 70 elders who produced it 2,450 years
after the death of Cush. All of Africa surrounding Sudan, especially the part
west of the White Nile, is called Ethiopia by this new name because it is the
land of the black Cushite children (ዘፍ፪: ፲፫). But the main and
established Ethiopia written in the Old and New Testaments is the part of Nuba,
including the great Sahara Desert On the other side,
in Asia, the land of the Arabs, Kadesh Barnea, the Sinai Peninsula, and all the
rest, because it is a lowland, desert, and completely wilderness, is called
Tziyim in Hebrew, not Cush; but in Greek, like the part of Africa, Nuba, it is
called Ethiopia. “ይገንዩ ቅድሜሁ ኢትዮጵያ።” Ethiopians will bow
before him. “ወወሀብኮሙ ሲሳዮሙ ለሕዝበ ኢትዮጵያ” And he gave their
provisions to the people of Ethiopia (መዝ: ፸፩። For the rest, see
the extensive history (ክፍል ፩).
ኢን/ Hin: (ዕብ ሂን) a measure of volume; small
jug; a liquid measure; tool; 12 lug of a bat. The measure of one lug is 6 eggs (ሕዝ፬: ፲፩).
ዕብ የሹዕ) a name like
Emmanuel. Savior, my savior; medicine; ransom, my ransom (ማቴ፩: ፳፩። ኢ/ I and ይ/ Ye are one; Yesus
would have been sufficient; I is simply added in vain, it has no mystery; like
Joshua, Josiah. But the modernists say that the Jews added in meaning no
medicine; it is a lie. And his name is not only the name of the Word alone, the
name of the flesh alone; because it is the name of the incarnate Word of one
person where Word and flesh are united, it shows two natures and two actions; divinity
and humanity; like Emmanuel. “ሶበሰ አምላክ ውእቱ ባሕቲቱ እፎመ እምሐመ ሶበ ሰቀልዎ፤ ወሶበሂ ሰብእ ውእቱ በሕቲቱ እፎመ እምአድኀነ ፍጡራነ” For when he is only
God, how did he suffer when they crucified him; and when he is only man, how
did he save creatures (ሃይ: አበ). To be crucified and
die as a ransom, to be eaten and drunk as food is of humanity; to save is of
Even before the
incarnation, there were many named Jesus who were his types Joshua and Hosea
are also included.
ኢየሩሳሌም/ Jerusalem: (ዕብ ይሩሻሌም) name of a country; Davids
city; the capital of all his children; an ancient city in the land of Judah. ኢ / I is a Geez prefix; የሩ/ Yer is country; Salem
is peace; together it means city of peace. Before being called Salem, it was
called Seyda Bethe Seyda because Sedu established it; meaning house of grace
and mercy (ዮሐ፭: ፪). After Sedu, because
his son Salem reigned over it, Salem became Jerusalem; since then, its name has
From the book of
Johns Monastery; fourth part. Melchizedek is from the tribe of Sedu, the son of
the king of Egypt and Nuba; and this Sedu reigned in Canaan and is from the
tribe of the strong. And he fought them and they submitted to him; and when
they pleased him, he lived in it and built a city and named it after himself
Seyda; and to this day it is called Seyda; and Melchizedeks father came from
Seyda. But Giorgis Wolde Hamid says; Melchizedek is the son of Peleg, and calls
him a Semite, the younger brother of Reu. And Peleg lived after he begat Reu
two hundred and sixtynine (269) years, and then he begat Melchizedek the priest
And when the day of
Noahs death approached, he entrusted Shem his son to move Adams body and bury
it in the middle of the earth and appoint Melchizedek the son of Peleg to his
tomb to serve him, for he is the priest of God (ጊ: ወ: ሐ: ገ ፲፩). Clement and Abu Shahr
said the same. And those who reigned after Salem were called Melchizedek
Adonizedek by the name of the king of Salem; that is, king of righteousness,
God of righteousness. Because Jesus of Nazareth, the true king of righteousness
and God of righteousness, as to his humanity, was crucified in its midst, being
called king of the Jews; since it is where he reconciles the children of Adam
with the Father, the people with the Gentiles, man with the angels, and souls
with the flesh; its name has been told as a prophecy from the time of the
fathers before the prophets (ሉቃ፲፫: ፴፫። But the prophets,
because of Israels wickedness, called it Sodom and Gomorrah; and some said it
was worse and more excellent than Sodom (ኢሳ፩: ፲።
Heavenly Jerusalem: fifth heaven from the
firmament; where the devil was created; given to the children of Adam after he

of iron or steel; a tool for carrying coals, a scoop; an ash and dirt scraper; a
scoop, a shovel; its function is like a tongs, a ladle, or a shovel
ዕብ ያሽፌ) pearl; name of a
pearl; its color is like the clear color of the sky; resembling the coolness of
a mirror (ራእ፬: ፫።
ዕብ ያዕዜር) name of a country; the
inheritance of Gad, which Moab inherited when Reuben and Gad were captured. But
the commentators call it Helei Yeli. Poets also call it Lamentation. “እስከ ኢያዜር፤ ብካየ ኢያዜር” To Iyazer; the
[2]: (ጽር ወዕብ ኔዜር) crown, diadem; helmet;
a vow of hair that is not shaved. But the commentators, instead of saying
crown, diadem, say royal garment, girdle, and band. “ወአልበሶ ልብሰ ኢያዜር” And he put the
garment of Iyazer on him (፬ነገ: ፲፩: ፲፪). ያዕዜር/ Yazer and ኔዜር/ nezer are two
different words, but the Geez translator has made them one.
ዐረ ኢያር) sky; all seven from
the firmament to the throne; including the firmament and space. “ዘዲበ ኢዮር መንበሩ።” His throne is above
Iyor. “ከመ ከዋክብት ዘኢዮር ይበዝኅ ኀጢአትየ።” My sin is as numerous
as the stars of Iyor. “ተራወጸ በኢዮር ደመና” Clouds rushed in Iyor
[2]: middle heaven, fourth
of the firmament; above it is Heavenly Jerusalem, beloved heaven; where the
palace of the heavens is (ሥነ: ፍጥ).
ኢዮቤል/ Ijobel: (ጽር ዮቢል። ዕብ ዮቤል) lamb; male lamb; trumpet;
Jubilee; the fiftieth year after seven weeks or 49 years, when many lambs are
sacrificed and trumpets are blown (ዘሌ፳፭: ፩ –፲፫). When pluralized, it
ኢጥያ/ Itiya: (ጽር ይቴያ) name of a plant. “ዕፅ ዘስሙ ኢጥያ” A plant whose name is
Itiya (ሄርማ: ገ፷፩ና: ፬).
ኢፍ ኤፍ/ Eph: (ዕብ ኤፋ) name of a measure; large
container; bedo; ladan; tenth of a homer. One eph holds 3 sea; sea is a small
container like a basket; see መሥለስmesles. “መስፈርተ ኢፍ” Measure of an eph (ዘሌ፭: ፲፲፩።
