ሞሎሕ/ Moloh: The name of an idol; see ሞሎኽ (molokh), መሊክ (melik), መለከ (meleke).
ሞሎክ/ Moloch: (ጽር ሞሎኽ። ዕብ ሞሌኽ) The idol of the
children of Ammon, which Israel used to worship; its face was that of a calf,
its hands and body were human; its hands were stretched out to receive a child;
in front of it and opposite it, towards the east, in the likeness of the seven
heavens, it had 7 walls and 7 gates. It means messenger, leader, guide,
guardian, king: (ዘሌ፲፰: ፳፪። ፳: ፪: ፬። ግብ፯: ፵፫). And the order of
its worship was this: the first gate would be opened for one who offered
sandals and oil; the second for one who offered a dove and a turtledove; the
third for one who offered a sheep; the fourth for one who offered a goat; the
fifth for one who offered a calf; the sixth for one who offered an ox; but for
one who offered his child, all seven would be opened, and he would give it to
the idol hand to hand. After that, the priests would receive the child from the
hands of Moloch, light a fire on two sides, and passing it through the middle,
would say, It is offered to us. For the rest of the discussion and history, see

ሞሠር ት/ Mossrt: (ብ መዋሥር ት) A saw; a toothed iron
cutting tool, a splitter. “ይትሌዐልኑ ሞሠርት።” Shall the saw boast
itself against him who saws with it. “መዋሥረ ኀጺን።” Iron saws. “መዋሥርተ ዕፅ” Wooden saws: (ኢሳ፲: ፲፭። ስንክ: ሐም፳፭። ሲኖዶ).
ሞሳሕ/ Mosah: The name of a tribe; see መሰከ (mese)
ሞቅሕ/ Moqh: (ብ መዋቅሕት) Prison; A fetter, a
shackle; a chain, a foot warmer or iron leg; a yoke, a collar; anything like a
chain. “ወድቃ መዋቅሕት እምእደዊሁ።” And the chains fell
off his hands. “ሰበርኩ መዋቅሕቲክሙ።” I have broken your
yokes. “መዋቅሕቲሃ ዘብርት።” Her strong fetters. “አሕመምዎሙ በመዋቅሕት” They afflicted them
with fetters: (ግብ፲፪: ፯። ዘሌ፳፮: ፲፫። ሢራ፳፰: ፳። ኢሳ፳፪: ፫).
ሞት/ Mot: Death; the end of physical and blood life; a natural debt that came
through the sin of Adam; a natural punishment: (ግጥም/ poem) Who is greater in
expanse than Gojjam and Damot. Leave it, we have seen and distinguished, the
great Damot/ edamot(death). “መኑ ሰብእ ዘየሐዩ ወኢይሬእዮ ለሞት።” What man is there who
lives and will not see death. “ወሞተ መብዝኅቶሙኒ እስመ ይከውን በፍናው ብዙኃት።” And the death of most
of them is because it happens in the way of many. “ሞተ ግብት።” Death of Egypt. “ሞት ጠባይዓዊ፤ ሞተ ፈቃድ።” Natural death; death
of will. “አግዚአብሔርሰ ኢገብረ ሞት ወኢይኤድሞ ሀጕሎሙ ለሕያዋን።” But God did not make
death, nor does he delight in the destruction of the living. “ኮነኖሙ ሞት እምአዳም እስከ ሙሴ ለእለሂ ኢአበሱ ከመ አበሳሁ ለአዳም” Death reigned from
Adam to Moses, even over those who did not sin in the likeness of the
transgression of Adam: (መዝ: ፹፰። ፊልክ። ፍ: ነ: ፶። ፈላስ። ጥበ፩: ፲፫። ሮሜ፭: ፲፬).
ሞአ/ Moa: He conquered; see መዊእ (mewi conqueror) መዊኦት (mewiot conquests).
ሞዐልት መዓልት/ Moalt: (ብ መዋዕል ላት) a day; the working
time of 12 hours from sunrise to sunset. “ዘሌሊት መዓልተ ይከውኖ።” He makes the night as
the day. “አርብዓ መዋዕለ ወአርብዓ ለያልየ” Forty days and forty
nights: (ሢራ፴፰: ፳፰። ማቴ፬: ፪).
: Time, era, months. “ተዘከር መዋዕለ ረኃብ አመ መዋዕለ ጽጋብ።” Remember the days of
famine in the days of plenty. “መዋዕል ወአዝማን።” Days and times. “በእማንቱ መዋዕል” In those days: (ሢራ፲፰: ፳፭። ግብ፩: ፯። ዘፍ፴፰: ፩). መዋዕል (mewail days) is used instead of ዕለት (ilet day) and ዕለታት (ilettat days), entering into the plural and
being said for both singular and plural. “በዝ መዋዕል፤ በኵሉ መዋዕል፤ በእማንቱ መዋዕል፤ ስዱሰ መዋዕለ።” In these days; in all
the days; in those days; six days. “መዋዕል እኩያት፤ መዋዕል ሠናያት።” Evil days; good days.
When it enters with an article, it has a usage like the great ዕለት (ilet day). “በመዋዕለ ተወልደ ዮሴፍ።” In the days when
Joseph was born. “በመዋዕለ ትኤብስ” In the days of
Tiberius: (ኩፋ: ፳፰። ሢራ፲፰: ፳፯).
ሞገስ/ Moges: [1]: Grace; favor, precious affection; patronage; grace,
honor, praise, blessing; majesty, beauty, charm, taste, art. “ቦሙ ሞገስ በኀበ ኵሉ ሕዝብ።” They had favor with
all the people. “እንተ ተዐቢ ሞገሰ ይሁበነ።” He gives grace to the
humble. “ረከብኪ ሞገሰ።” You have found favor.
“ገጽከ ምሉእ ሞገሰ።” Your face is full of
grace. “ሞገሳ ለብእሲት ያስተፌሥሖ ለምታ” The grace of a woman
delights her husband: (ግብ፪: ፵፯። ያዕ፬: ፮። ሉቃ፩: ፴። አስቴ፭: ፪። ሢራ፳፮: ፲፫).

ሞገር/ Moger: A censer; a tool for swinging incense. Like saying “ዕጣነ ሞገር” incense of the censer;
because the poem uses it instead of incense.
ሞገርት/ Mogert:: Throing, casting; a shower of stones. “ዘበሞገርተ እብን ወዕፀወ ገዳም” With the throwing of
stones and wood of the forest: (፩ነገ: ፲፬: ፲፬).
ሞገት/ Moget [1]: A wave; see ወጊድ (wegid wave) under ወገደ (wegede to wave).

ሞገደ/ Mogede: He agitated: he stirred up, he tossed, he shook. He stirred, he shook; of
wood.
ሞገዳዊ/ Mogedawi: Wavy, having waves. Contentious, disputatious; litigious.
ሞገድ/ Moged [1]: (ዳት፤ መዋግድ፤ ዳት። ዐረ መውጅ) Wave; a surge, a sea
flood, a water mountain, a horseman; becoming like ripples, going from the
middle to the edge, from the edge to the middle, blowing; which the winds
surround and drive, raise and lower. “እምአፉሁ መዋግደ እሳት ወፅአ።” The flame of fire, a
blaze. “ሞገደ ባሕር እንተ ይዘብጣ ነፋስ ወያነውኃ።” The wave of the sea
that is driven by the wind and surges. “ወይትሀወክ እሞገዳት።” And he was tossed by
the waves. “እምአፉሁ መዋግደ እሳት ወፅአ።” From his mouth came
forth waves of fire. “መዋግዳት” Waves: (ያዕ፩: ፮። ማቴ፲፬: ፳፬። ሱቱ: ዕዝ፲፫: ፲፩። ቀሌ). It says ሞገት (moget wave) instead of ሞገድ (moged wave) the meaning of ሙግት (mugit argument) comes from this. And the
Arab says mawjet instead of mawj, and this is like that: (አስቴ፫: ፪። ሱቱ: ዕዝ፪: ፶).
: A wave is a measured summer disturbance; a surge is an excessive
winter disturbance; a flood is that which destroys the harbor and flows onto
the land: (መዝ: ፵፩).

ሞግእ መውግእ ሙጋ/ Moge mewuge mugae: (ብ መዋግእ) A goad, a pricker; a
destroyer; a horn, a whip; a goad, a young goad; a club, a bludgeon. “ተወግኦ በአሐዱ ሙጋእ።” He was struck with
one goad. “ይጐድዕዎ ውስተ ሞግእ።” They will thrust him
into a goad. “ከመ ይትክሉ ምግአ ኀጺን ላዕለ ቅጽር።” That they may set an
iron goad on the wall. “ተክለ መዋግአ ዘነፍጥ” The setting of the
goads of a catapult: (ሥር: አኵ። አዋል። ዮሴፍ).
ሞጣሕት/ Mot.ah.t: Covering, see ወዋሖ (wewaho he covered)
under ወጥሐ (wetihe to cover).
ሞጥሐ/ Mot.h.e: (ይሞጥሕ) He clothed, he
draped; he covered, he wrapped; he robed.
ሞጥሕ ሞጣሕት/ Mot.h. mot.ah.t: (ታት፤ መዋጥሕ) Covering; The covering
of the top of a heap; an outer garment. a priestly garment, a girdle; a cloak,
a robe; a covering; a turban, a veil: (ፍ: ነ: ፰: ፫). “መዋጥሕየ።” My coverings. “መዋጥሕ ዘሰንዱናት።” Coverings of fine
linen. “ወከመ ሞጣሕት ትዌልጦሙ” And like a covering
you will roll them up: (ሆሴ፪: ፯። ሉቃ፳፬: ፲፪። መዝ: ፻፩).
ሞፀፍ ት/ Motzeft: (ብ መዋፅፍ ት) A sling; a leather
strap for throwing stones. A rifle; a cannon. “ዘይወዲ እብነ ዲበ ዋፀፍ።” He who throws a stone
on a sling. “እብነ ሞፀፍ።” Sling stones. “ሰብአ ሞፀፍ።” Slingers. “ሞፀፍተ እብን።” Sling stones. “መዋፅፍተ እብን” Sling stones: (ምሳ፳፮: ፰። ዘካ፱: ፲፭። ዮዲ፮: ፲፪። መሳ፳: ፲፮። ፪ዜና: ፳፮: ፲፬). Instead of መዋጽሕት (mewatsiht slings), giving the root of ወፀሐ (wetsehe to go out) to ወፀፈ (wetsefe to throw), it says መዋጽፍት (mewatsift slings) this is incorrect. “አኮ በአሕባል ዘይጠፍሮን ወአኮ በመዋጽፍት ወበሣዕር ዘይከድኖን።” Not with ropes do
they bind us, nor with slings and with grass do they cover us. “ዘእንበለ ዕፅ ወመሬት ወዘእንበለ አሕባለ ጠፈር ወመዋጽፍት።” Without wood and
earth, and without the ropes of the sky and slings. “መዋጽፍት ዘዕፅ: Slings of wood: (ገድ: ላሊ).
ሞጻ/ Motsa: (ጻት) Atonement; the price
of sin; “ሤጠ ደም” the price of blood, “መሧዕተ ኀጢአት” a sacrifice for sin: (፩ነገ: ፯: ፫: ፬: ፰: ፲፯). A wiper, a scrubber;
a wet piece of wood or a tail.
ሞጻሕ ት/ Motsah.t: (ብ መዋጽሕ፤ ት) A drink offering; a
libation of wine; poured out and flowing for the glory of God. “ወአውጽሖ ሞጻሕተ።” And he brought forth
drink offerings. “አንሥኦ እዴሁ በሞጻሕት።” He lifted up his
hands with drink offerings. “መሥዋዕት ወቍርባን ወሞጻሕት” Sacrifice and
offering and drink offerings: (፪ነገ: ፳፫: ፲፮። ሢራ፶: ፲፭። ሕዝ፵፭: ፲፯).
: A pouring vessel, a ladle; a cup, a bowl, a chalice, a goblet; a
vessel for libations. “መዋጽሕ በዘያወጽሑ ቦቱ።” Vessels with which
they pour out. “ቤተ መዋጽሕት” House of vessels: (ዘፀ፴፰: ፲፪። ፳፭: ፳፬).
: Structure; the wood of the roof and the ceiling; a rafter. “ወመዋጽሕተ ቤትነ ዘአርዝ” And the rafters of
our house are cedar: (ማሕ፩: ፲፯).
ሞፃእት/ Motzaet: This is the same; an exit, a place to jump out, a place to appear; an
edge, an end, a conclusion: (ዘኍ፴፬: ፬). “መብእስ እበኒሃ ለፍኖተ ኃጥኣን ወጸድፍ ሞፃእታ።” The end of the path
of sinners is destruction. “ሞፃእቱ ለቅሥት የኀልቅ በመሐላ” The end of weeping
perishes with an oath: (ሢራ፳፩: ፲። ዕብ፮: ፲፮).
ሞጽ/ Mots: (ዕብ) Dust, ashes; horn,
dirt, filth, small particles.
ሞፈር/ Mofer: Plow handle, see ወፊር (wefir plow handle)
under ወፈረ (wefere to be thick).
ሞፈር ት/ Mofer t: (ብ መዋፍር ት) Plow handle; a
farming and plowing tool that a farmer holds and uses for plowing; thick and
long. “አነ ጸራቢ ወእጸርብ መዋፍረ ወመናብርተ ወካልኣነ።” I am a carpenter, and
I make plow handles, yokes, and other things. “መዋፍርት ዘየሐርሱ ወይመልኁ አሥዋከ” Plow handles with
which they plow and break the clods: (ስንክ: ግን፳፮። ጥቅ፱).
ሞፍጥ/ Moft.[1]: (ብ መዋፍጥ) Oven A firing place, a cooking
place; a stove, an oven. “ዘከመ ያዐውድ ሞፍጦ” As the oven heats: (ሢራ፴፰: ፴).
[2]: A firing place; see ወፊጥ (wefit fire) under ወፈጠ (wefete to burn).
ሟል/ Mua: (ዕብ ሙል) Counterpart; Opposite, facing; like, equal, likeness. Like saying friend and patron; but in Arabic, mal means money.
